This first-floor extension was designed as a long-term investment in performance and architectural integrity. Rather than approaching the addition as a separate volume, the project was delivered as a cohesive whole-home upgrade — strengthening structure, refining the exterior, and elevating internal finishes throughout.
The new upper level integrates seamlessly into the existing form, supported by a carefully engineered structural system including a new floor structure, full framing package, and integrated steelwork. A completely rebuilt roof structure, finished in terracotta tile, reinforces the home’s architectural presence while providing lasting durability and protection.
Externally, the entire home was re-clad in vertical Weathertex, unifying old and new and creating a refined, contemporary façade. Updated fascia, gutters, and downpipes completed the envelope upgrade, ensuring the home performs as well as it presents.
Internally, the focus centred on high-quality finishes aligned with long-term durability. Engineered timber flooring runs throughout the upper level, complemented by custom joinery, thoughtfully detailed bathrooms, and architectural glazing that enhances natural light, airflow, and thermal stability. Double-glazed windows and expansive stacker doors contribute to a home that feels open and considered, while improving comfort year-round.
